Praia, October 11, 2023 – The final day of training in energy policy and economics was dedicated to the presentation of initiatives and activities of the Agencies in charge of energy of the ECOWAS Commission. In addition to the participants, it also brought together representatives of the various ECOWAS agencies and institutions, notably the WAPP, ERERA, and the ECOWAS Commission, as a prelude to ESEF 2023.
In his opening address, the Executive Director of ECREEE, Mr. Jean Francis Sempore, thanked all the participants in the Energy Policy and Economy training for their involvement over the past 2 weeks. He also thanked IFDD and Enda tiers monde, without whom the training would not have been possible. It was also an opportunity for him to welcome the partners and other participants who had come to ESEF.
According to the established agenda, participants were equipped not only on ECOWAS regional sustainable energy policies (renewable energy, energy efficiency, bioenergy, gender mainstreaming in energy, and green hydrogen) but also on ECREEE Strategic Plan 2023-2027 and ECOWAS energy policy. The day was also an opportunity for participants to learn more about the ECOWAS Energy Information System (EIS) and the state of implementation of the Regional Electricity Market.
