Praia, November 7, 2023 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) is taking another noteworthy step towards the development and promotion of sustainable energy practices and knowledge dissemination with the launch of the 2nd edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Journal (ESEJ), funded by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS).
During the launch, Mr. Francis Sempore, Executive Director of ECREEE, conveyed that ESEJ is aligned with one of the objectives of ECREEE, which is to promote research and technology transfer in the field of sustainable energy in West Africa. ESEJ particularly aims to give a voice to West African youth by providing a platform through which they may contribute to scientific and technological production in the energy sector in the region. Through ESEJ, ECREEE provided grants to subsidize young researchers to propose modern solutions to tackle the region´s energy challenges.
As a specialized agency within ECOWAS, ECREEE has been at the forefront of promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency across West Africa, with the implementation of programs and projects that contribute to the sustainable energy landscape.
