In the framework of the implementation of the integrated capacity building program of the West African Clean Energy Corridor, The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in collaboration with the West African Power Pool (WAPP), the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and with the technical and financial support of the African Legal Support Facility of the AfDB (ALSF) is organizing a Training of Trainers on the legal and regulatory aspects of solar photovoltaic and Systems Battery Energy Storage (SSEB) projects for ECOWAS Member States.
The overall objective is to constitute a core of fifteen (15) experts, who will be trained to ensure the training of actors in the West African energy sector through the network of WAPP regional training centers. The training will specifically focus on the following aspects of solar photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects:
- Legal-regulatory framework
- IPP procurement
- Introduction to Power Purchase Agreements and Sovereign Guarantees
- Gender mainstreaming
Target Audience
- Network of WAPP regional training centers and CERMI
- National Utilities,
- Ministries in charge of Energy
- Network of WAPP Universities and ECREEE
Location: in one of the Network of WAPP regional training centers or CERMI
Duration: 5 Days
Date: First quarter of 2024
